Statement from the Green Party of Detroit

The Detroit Green Party condemns the brutal attack perpetrated on the Palestinian people in Gaza by the terrorist government of Israel. This genocidal attack on Gaza has resulted in hundreds of deaths of innocent civilians , mostly women and children and the wounding and maiming of many more. It has exacerbated the already horrible living conditions that the Palestinians have been forced to endure following the sanctions/siege imposed on them by Israel since 2007.

We join the rest of the civilized world in condemning these latest attempts by Israel to ethnically cleanse Gaza and the West-bank of their rightful inhabitants.

We demand that the bombings stop immediately and that the siege that has strangled the people into starvation and destitution be lifted .

We condemn the complicity of the U.S government for supplying the Israeli with the weapons they use.

We realize that none of this conflict would be as severe as it has become without American backing. Israel is the largest recipient of U.S foreign aid.

We demand that our government ( U.S) stop using the state of Israel as a terrorist force against the people of the Middleast and use the money being given to them for basic necessities here at home, like health-care and education.

We call on all of our elected leaders to stand up for Justice and Human Rights and roundly condemn the murderous aggression committed by Israel on the Palestinians.

Green Party leaders condemn Israeli bombings;

support call for boycott of Israel

Green Party leaders in Michigan condemned the brutal air strikes and military assaults by Israel on unarmed civilians in Gaza and called for a boycott of Israel.

The Israeli blockade of Gaza, erected in 2006 after the democratic election of Hamas, was an act of war. As a result of the blockade, 80% of Gazans live on less than two dollars a day, unemployment hovers at 50-60%, with only 195 factories, reduced from 3,900 in 2005. Israel has barred the delivery of UN relief to Gazans.

Greetings of Peace,

As you may already know, Gaza, Palestine are in an extreme crisis since yesterday, the 27th of December. Due to the current Israeli massacre in Gaza over 285 deaths of innocent civilians and 750 injured and they are still counting. The Congress of Arab American Organizations (CAAO) has organized a protest, so please gather at the corner of Warren and Case in Dearborn, on Tuesday, December 30th at 4:00 pm.

If possible please bring signs/posters stating: "FREE PALESTINE", "STOP THE MASSACRE OF GAZA", "END US AID TO ISRAEL", "AGAINST ISRAELI AGGRESSION", "STOP THE MURDER OF INNOCENT CHILDREN", "JUSTICE IN PALESTINE", etc. etc. We cannot keep silent about whats happening in Palestine. Please forward this to all of your lists and inform everyone you know to attend this protest...the Palestinians have a just cause and WE NEED TO SUPPORT IT.

Stop the massacre against Palestinians in Gaza

Dearborn - The Congress of Arab American Organizations (CAAO) - Michigan, strongly condemns the current Israeli massacre in Gaza , in which more than 225 Palestinians have been murdered in the bloodiest one-day death toll in 60 years of conflict between the Palestinians and Israel .

More than 700 Palestinians have been wounded in the same time period.

The Green Party of Michigan strenuously opposes the $17.4 billion bailout for General Motors, Ford and Chrysler.

The agreement by the Bush administration to use a small part of the $700 billion already promised to Wall Street bankers is no victory for working people in Michigan. The loans support the failed policies of the current corporate leaderships.

Reports are circulating that Rev Pinkney was released from prison and was home in time for the holiday.

A very happy holiday to the Pinkneys, Benton Harbor and all fighters for justice.

Rev. Pinkney's bond hearing is this Thurs. Dec. 18, 10 am, Berrien County Courthouse, Judge Wiley presiding. Yes, Wiley. The same judge who gave Pinkney 3-10 for paraphrasing the Bible (twice what was asked by the Probation Dept. and the Prosecutor), claimed it violated his parole and was a "true threat" (at the original violation hearing before Judge Butzbaugh he agreed that it was protected speech and refused to find a violation), rejected the ACLU amicus, and actually said - "I believe that Pinkney did not intend to threaten the judge, but he has a direct connection to God." There were 3 kinds of cops in the room and Pinkney was in handcuffs.

"I'm not aware of any past behavior on his part which would be the basis imagining a physical threat from Rev Pinkney. But it must truly be that he is threatening to their plans and project. Detroit Greens will join Michigan Welfare Rights Organization's Christmas Party and Fundraiser for Rev. Pinkney, the same day as his appeal bond hearing. In case you don't know, a federal judge ordered him released on bond while the ACLU appeals his case. Thursday will be his bond hearing in Benton Harbor.

Please bring a dish and $5. The money is to help with his appeal bond.

Michigan Citizen reporter Diane Bukowski faces 10 years in prison on five felony counts of assaulting, battering, wounding, resisting or obstructing five Michigan State Troopers. SHE IS NOT GUILTY. She was simply doing her job investigating the deaths of motorcyclist James Willingham and pedestrian Jeffrey Frazier on Detroit’s east side, taking photos and asking questions.

Willingham, part of whose body lies under the tarp at right of top photo, was returning from the polls on Election Day, Nov. 4. Troopers John Hetfield and James Wojton claimed he was speeding and gave chase. They deny eyewitness reports that they rammed him, causing both deaths. Witnesses say troopers took no photos or measurements at the scene. A fire engine hosed down the street, removing evidence including “blood spatter” and “gasoline spill” according to State Police reports.

Hetfield and Wojton took statements from witnesses themselves.

Parts of Willingham’s body were found the next day in a nearby parking lot, indicating the lack of investigation. Detroit police were at the scene but are not investigating the deaths of these Detroiters. Willingham was a father of ten. Frazier, who was autistic, was a beloved figure in his community. Wayne Co. Prosecutor Kym Worthy’s rep told their families they are investigating, with no results yet. Instead, they are prosecuting Bukowski, who has covered police brutality cases for nine years, inclu ding Worthy’s failure to prosecute killer cops. Her preliminary exam is Tues. Dec. 16; her attorney is Arnold Reed.
